It doesn%26#039;t. Northern Ireland is part of the UK and has a higher rate, but isn%26#039;t shown on this graph.

As for why they%26#039;re highest in GB... partly at least because of the high house prices. In London, it%26#039;s possible to be working and not be able to afford anywhere to live - so you have to go onto benefit and get your rent (however extortionate) paid. In other areas it%26#039;s actually worth going out to work.

Also, a higher proportion of London%26#039;s population is made up of those who are not functional English speakers - look at the table below, the top 17 areas for non-English-speaking children are all in London.

PS I%26#039;m not being racist here - treat all as equal who can function as equals in our society, I say.

I%26#039;ve never been unemployed since leaving full time education 25 years ago. I%26#039;ve done some really sh*t jobs in my time, but enjoy the self respect that earning a living brings with it.

As long as we throw money at people who don%26#039;t work, we%26#039;ll have a massive unemployment rate. There%26#039;s jobs out there, but people don%26#039;t want to do them. As far as immigration goes, my experience of these migrants is that they want to work and work hard. If you have ever been to tower hamlets you will realise it is the dumping ground for every non-white race in this country.
